The City of Fernandina Beach is located on Amelia Island in Nassau County Florida. Fernandina Beach is also known as the "Isle of 8 Flags", it received this name because of the many nations that governed the city over time. Access to Fernandina Beach from Interstate 95 is via highway 200, the city is located only 35 miles northeast of downtown Jacksonville.

Fernandina Beach was originally founded by the Spanish in 1811, the city first stood one mile north of its present location. Old Town Fernandina and Fernandina Plaza Historic State Park can still be seen at the original location.

Fernandina Beach is also home to Fernandina Plaza, during the early day of the Spanish occupation this plaza was actually the old Plaza de la Constitucion. This area is known today as "Old Town," the area is on the Amelia River on the northern edge of Fernandina Beach.

According to historians the plaza area has been occupied since prehistoric times. Archaeologists uncovered evidence of settlements in this area by American Indians that date back about 4,000 years.

While visiting the festival you will see activities that include vendors with seafood, arts, crafts, collectibles and antiques, live music, the Miss Shrimp Festival pageant, a fireworks display and a parade.
